Two doctors. One standard of care.
Augello Chiropractic in Bethlehem and Valley Sports Chiropractic, working together under one roof. Dr. Mark Augello has been the steady hand of Lehigh Valley chiropractic since 1993. Dr. Adam Maurer brings advanced sports-chiropractic training and pro-team experience. Different toolkits, the same commitment: get to the root cause, build a clear plan, and progress you back to the activities you love.
Practicing at 1578 Easton Avenue since 1993.
Dr. Mark Augello graduated with honors, first in his class, from Pennsylvania College of Chiropractic in 1993. He came home to Bethlehem and took over the practice his father Frank Augello had built from the same Easton Avenue office. Three decades and thousands of patients later, the lights are still on, and the practice is now expanding.

Techniques in the toolkit
Chiropractic is not one technique. Different bodies, different injuries, and different comfort levels with adjustment need different approaches. Dr. Augello is trained across nine: Activator (Advanced Proficiency Rated), Diversified, Sacro-occipital technique, Thompson drop, Gonstead, Cox flexion-distraction, Pierce, Impulse adjusting, and Logan basic. He is also trained in extremity adjusting (shoulders, knees, ankles, wrists) and in radiology, reading x-rays in-house when the exam calls for imaging.
Philosophy
The adjustment is not the whole answer. The history, the examination, and the willingness to refer out when chiropractic is not the right fit are what make the adjustment useful when it is. Dr. Augello treats pain as a signal, not a label. Most cases need some combination of adjustment, soft-tissue work, and home exercise. Some cases need imaging, a specialist, or time. The patients who do best are the ones who know which is which, because someone took the time to explain it.
Chiropractic works best when you treat it like medicine, not a gym membership. You come in because something is wrong. We figure out what, we address it, and we get you back to your life.
The patient range
Patients have included Olympic athletes and school athletes, postal workers and attorneys, grandmothers in their eighties and high-schoolers with hockey injuries. The practice sees a broad range because spine-driven pain does not pick demographics.
A note on Dr. Augello's other practice
Dr. Augello also directs a separate holistic wellness and weight-loss practice out of the same building. That arm focuses on nutrition, metabolic testing, and modalities like red light therapy and infrared sauna. The two practices are operated separately, and the chiropractic care described on this site stands on its own. If you are looking for the weight-loss practice, you can visit Dr. Augello's Health & Body Makeover.

Background
Originally from Washington, NJ. Dr. Maurer earned his degree in Kinesiology from Penn State, where he developed a strong foundation in human movement through both academics and athletics, he played soccer and baseball. He went on to receive his Doctorate from New York Chiropractic College, gaining experience in a wide range of clinical settings including neurological and multidisciplinary practices.
After graduation, Dr. Maurer opened a sports-focused clinic in Malvern, PA. There he refined his approach, combining pain relief, functional rehabilitation, and performance optimization into one cohesive system. That clinic became Valley Sports Chiropractic and now operates inside Augello Chiropractic on Easton Avenue.
Specialty methods
Dr. Maurer specializes in a results-driven, movement-based approach to care. His toolkit includes techniques not commonly found in traditional chiropractic settings:
- Soft tissue therapy & myofascial release. Hands-on work that addresses the muscle and fascia driving the joint dysfunction.
- Instrument-Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM). Stainless steel tools used to find and treat scar tissue and fascial restriction with precision.
- Cupping therapy. Decompresses tight tissue, increases local circulation, and accelerates recovery.
- Functional taping. Kinesiology and rigid taping to support tissue, modulate pain, and reinforce movement patterns between sessions.
- Functional rehabilitation. Customized 1-on-1 programs to restore movement, build strength, and prevent reinjury.
- Class IV Laser & Red Light Therapy. Advanced recovery technology for tissue healing and inflammation.
- Performance-based chiropractic adjustment. Sports-specific adjusting that targets joint function and movement quality, not just symptom relief.
Philosophy
Most people wait until something hurts to take action. But pain is often the last signal your body gives you, not the first. By the time you feel it, dysfunction has usually been building for weeks, months, or years. Dr. Maurer's focus is on identifying and addressing the root cause of dysfunction, not just managing symptoms.
You don't need to be in pain to benefit from chiropractic. You just need a body that you want to take care of.
Outside the clinic
Dr. Maurer lives in Bethlehem, PA with his wife Courtney, their three sons Levi, Oliver, and Henry, their golden retriever Tucker, and their cat Harry. When he's not in the clinic, he's training, with his family, or studying his craft.
Different training. Same standard.
Most chiropractic offices have one doctor and one approach. We have two, and the patient gets the benefit of both.
If you walk in with chronic low back pain after a desk-job decade, Dr. Augello's nine-technique adjusting toolkit and Activator Advanced Proficient training is built for you. If you walk in as a runner with a recurring hamstring issue, or as a golfer whose swing has lost its rotation, or as a lifter trying to get back under the bar after a shoulder injury, Dr. Maurer's sports-chiropractic specialty, IASTM, cupping, and functional rehab are built for you.
And in many cases, the answer is both. The two doctors share notes, share rooms, and share a standard of care.
